Like any other mode of transportation, it has its advantages and challenges, with one of the most serious being cargo theft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In terms of numbers, the insecurity panorama for road freight transportation is as follows:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the National Chamber of Freight Transport (CANACAR), during 2022, cargo vehicle theft increased by 7.9% compared to 2021, resulting in approximately 10,000 incidents on different routes across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding 2023, it is estimated that from January to October, theft from transport vehicles increased to 10,000 incidents, mainly affecting 10 states in the country, which accounted for 94% of the assaults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">According to the National Business Victimization Survey, the cities with the highest robbery rates are: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mexico City <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michoac\u00e1n <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jalisco <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zacatecas <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Morelos <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Veracruz <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puebla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Theft of goods transported via road occurs through various methods, including: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Driver retention: 87% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete cargo theft: 6% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pillage: 4% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attempted retention: 2% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft from facilities: 1%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On the other hand, the most frequent types of theft by criminal gangs are: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Theft from units in transit: 82% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft in unsafe parking lots: 11% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft in company yards: 5% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft at gas stations or truck stops: 1% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft at carrier facilities: 1%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>What are the most stolen products during land transportation of goods? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food and beverages: 41% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electronics: 14% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alcohol: 8% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemicals: 7% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pharmaceuticals: 7% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction and industrial goods: 5%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do to prevent cargo theft?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Identify dangerous routes <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Research which routes are unsafe for road transportation of your goods and avoid them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get cargo insurance <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If possible, protect your goods with an insurance policy that guarantees the safety of your products in the event of such an incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seek advice from a freight forwarder <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for a customs agency that offers services in logistics and cargo transportation.
