Mexico has free trade agreements with 46 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, with the most important trading partners being the United States, Canada, Japan, and Germany.
Our country imports the following products from various parts of the world:
- Fuels and petroleum products: These are mineral fuels and petroleum derivatives primarily sourced from the United States.
- Automobiles: Mexico imports both passenger and cargo vehicles.
- Auto parts: Our country’s purchases of auto parts mainly come from the United States, China, Japan, Germany, and South Korea.
- Electronic circuits: These are commonly known as semiconductor chips primarily sourced from Malaysia, China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Vietnam.
- Plastic manufactures: Various plastic objects.
- Natural gas: Used as domestic and industrial fuel, as well as a raw material in the petrochemical industry.
- Phones: A significant portion of mobile phones and other wireless networks used in the country come from China, the United States, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
- Machinery and processors: These are artifacts used in computers, mobile phones, among other technological devices. Mainly sourced from China, Thailand, and South Korea.
- Machine parts and accessories: The purchase of these products from China, South Korea, and Taiwan amounted to approximately $9.343 billion.
- Liquid crystal displays (LCDs): The main supplying countries of these products are China, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.
Some other imported products include manufactures of iron and/or steel, medicines, plastic articles for transportation or packaging, etc.
